Guidelines for Shared Water Flow

Dear Lateral Line Users,

During irrigation season, we want to remind everyone that our lateral lines are shared resources, and therefore a shared responsibility.

Keeping water flowing properly depends on all of us doing our part and communicating with our neighbors.
Below are a few guidelines to help things run smoothly for everyone on your line.

All neighbors need to communicate with each other on proper water flow for our particular neighborhood’s lateral lines.

Examples:

  1. Take responsibility for cleaning out your section of the ditch.
  2. Maintain your ditch – not only for yourself but for your downstream users.
  3. Keep your water contained to your yard so you don’t flood out people downstream.
  4. Agree on days and times that work for everyone for irrigating.
  5. Do not put excess debris in ditches – grass, leaves, or tree trimmings.
  6. Please conserve water when and where possible. Don’t over irrigate your property.

A little cooperation goes a long way toward making sure everyone gets the water they need.

If you have questions or run into problems with your lateral line, please reach out so we can help sort it out.

Thank you for being good neighbors and good stewards of our shared water.

Sincerely,

Eureka Ditch Board
